Derby Rules

1. Hole fee $100.00 before Feb. 10th- $120.00 after Feb. 10th

2. Payment must be made by cheque, money order, visa or master card, or cash until February 10th, 2008. ONLY CASH WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER FEBRUARY 10TH,2008. Cheques or money orders can be made payable to Cobden Civitan Club. Registration by CASH ONLY will be accepted on site February 23, 2008 until 12:00 noon.

3. TO CANCEL: Contact John Cull 646-7876 or John Levesque 646-9504 before February 10th, 2008 and your entry fee less $20.00 will be returned After 12:00 noon on February 10th, 2008 there will be no refund for cancellations. Registrations cannot be transferred.

4. All holes will be pre-drilled. Contestants will not be allowed to drill their own holes.

5. All participants will abide by the Ontario Fishing Regulations, except only one line per angler.

6. A valid fishing licence is required and you will be asked to provide proof.

7. Fishing will begin at 12:00 noon and end at 3:00pm. Participants may enter the Fishing Derby area starting at 10:00am. NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO PUT A LINE IN THE WATER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BEFORE THE HORN SOUNDS TO COMMENCE THE DERBY AT 12:00NOON.

8. ANY PARTICIPANTS BREAKING ANY OF THE DERBY RULES AND/OR ANY APPLICABLE ONTARIO LAWS WILL BE DISQUALIFIED and prosecuted under the Criminal Code of Canada for using fraudulent means to acquire prizes

9. There is no minimum age for participants, HOWEVER, ALL MINORS (12 AND UNDER) MUST BE WITH A PARENT OR A GUARDIAN AT ALL TIMES DURING THE TOURNAMENT. GUARDIANS WILL BE GIVEN A DIFFERENT COLOR WRISTBAND AND THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO FISH, ONLY PAID PARTICIPANTS MAY FISH.

10. Contestants must look after their own hole only: IF YOU LEAVE YOUR HOLE FOR ANY REASON YOU MUST TAKE YOUR LINE OUT OF THE WATER

11. All Derby participants must be wearing a wristband that will be given out at the time of registration and must .keep the wristband on for the entire Derby. ONLY PEOPLE WITH WRISTBANDS WILL BE ALLOWED INTO THE FISHING DERBY DESIGNATED AREA.

12. HOLES WILL BE ALLOCATED BY DRAW. WHEN YOU RECEIVE A WRISTBAND, YOU WILL DRAW YOUR TICKET THAT ASSIGNS YOUR HOLE. PLEASE NOTE; ONCE YOU ARE ALLOCATED A HOLE, YOU MAY NOT CHANGE IT.

13. The Fishing Derby area will be fenced off with snow fencing and rope. ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST ENTER THROUGH A SECURITY GATE WHERE REGISTRATION AND CONTAINERS WILL BE CHECKED

14. NO ELECTRONIC DEVICES MAY BE USED ON SITE. ( i.e. fish finders, etc.)

15. EVERY ATTEMPT MUST BE MADE TO LIVE RELEASE ALL FISH ONCE MEASURED BY A DERBY OFFICIAL.

16. Once a fish is caught you must alert a Derby Official who will come and measure the length of the fish and the time it was caught. The longest fish wins the Grand Prize, of $10,000.

17. In the case of a tie, the time of catch will be the deciding factor. Earliest, longest fish caught will win the Grand Prize.

18. THE FOLLOWING WILL NOT BE ALLOWED; CHUMMING, FISHING HUTS, COOLERS, ( OPEN CONTAINERS ONLY PLEASE ) PORTABLE FISH HOUSES, TARPS, OR SHELTERS AND NO SNOWMOBILES WITHIN THE DERBY AREA.

19. ANY CLOSED CONTAINER INCLUDING PACKSACKS WILL BE INSPECTED UPON ENTERING THE DERBY GATES. THIS INCLUDES THERMOSES.

20. Food and beverages will be available on site.

21. The Grand Prize will be awarded at the conclusion of the Derby or as soon as possible thereafter.

22. Any new official rule, condition or deletion will be posted at the Derby site on February 23, 2008.

23. You are responsible for your safety and actions at all times before, during and after the Derby.

24. Garbage barrels will be placed around the fishing area. Please use them; this is your resource, take care of it…NO LITTERING.

25. Each entrant, upon registration to compete in the Derby, agrees that he will not hold the Sponsors liable for any kind of accident that might occur during this tournament. Photographs taken during or after the tournament become the property of the Cobden Civitan Club and will be used without compensation or permission.

26. ALL RULES ARE SUBJECT TO INTERPRETATION BY THE FISHING DERBY ORGANIZING COMMITTEE.

27. BY ENTERING THE DERBY, ALL PARTICIPANTS DECLARE AN UNDERSTANDING OF ALL DERBY RULES AND AGREE TO ABIDE BY THEM.

28. If conditions occur which are found to be dangerous to Derby participants, the Cobden Civitan Club Organizing Committee have the right to deem the Derby complete and the prizes will be given out by random draw.

29. All participants must do their utmost to exhibit good sportsmanship conduct at all times during the Derby.=

30. ALL FISH CAUGHT WILL BE RELEASED BY THE DERBY OFFICIALS.

31. NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ALLOWED.

32. LIVE BAIT CANNOT BE LONGER THAN 4 INCHES.
